Blue posted this in her journal and I love character surveys so I decided to let it give me an excuse to go on about Von.
1) What's your character's name? Louis Vaan Maurdrid Crowley, but he goes by Von.
2) How old is he/she? 11 at the start of the story. He'll be 17 when it ends.
3) Is your OC a boy or girl? Boy. I like boys. ^_^
4) What's his/her race? Human. He's German and English on his dad's side, and on his mother's English and Austrian. He's very pale.
Appearance:
1) If this character were to suddenly become part of the 3D world, and ended up in a heavily-populated area, how many stares would he/she get? Not many. He's human and looks it.
2) Is your character considered normal in his/her own world? No. He's stoic and a loner and is unnecessarily mean to people.
3) What would be his/her most recognizable feature(s)? He has very intense dark brown eyes that are nearly black.
4) Would you consider your OC as attractive? He's cute in a boyish way. He has a nice face, but he's not terribly goodlooking.
Personality:
1) Temper: Von tries his best to show little emotion. He'll put up with pretty much anything with only a shrug and an irritated sigh. But you succeed in getting him angry, he likes to throw things.
2) Does your character ever get depressed? Yes. Often. He spends a lot of his time thinking about the past and trying too hard to analyze the events surrounding him.
3) Leader or Follower? Depends on who he's with. With Evan (his best friend) he tends to be a follower, letting Evan drag him along on every crazy idea he concocts, but he's more of "i'll do what you want if i can't think of anything better to do" kind of person.
4) What is the main aspect of his/her personality? He's very quiet and reflective. He had little contact with other people for most his life and is very awkward in social circumstances. He also tends to make mountains out of molehills.
History:
1) Does your OC have a family of any sort? If so, are they still alive? Yes. He grew up with a mother and father. At the beginning of the story his father is missing and his mother is "sick." And a butler/handiman guy who's in love with his mother.
2) Is your character out on his/her own? If so, why? No. He's still a child and in school.
3) Has he/she encountered any traumatizing events? Oh yeah.
4) What was probably the best time in his/her life so far? Umm.....well...actually he's pretty happy his first year of school. He's away from his mother and Monty and has friends for the first time in his life.
Romance:
1) Single? Yes. he's 11.
2) Has your OC developed any romantic relationships? Later in the story.
3) Virgin? I should hope so.
4) Does your character like flirting? He doesn't know what flirting is.
Symbolism:
1) What animal would you associate your OC with? Hmmm... maybe a clipped bird. He wants to fly but is so grounded by reality.
2) Musical Instrument? He can play the piano decently. He doesn't think he's very good, but other people would disagree. He doesn't love it. He only played for his mother because it made her happy.
3) Element? I'm going to say fire because he has an affinity with fire and it's power to destroy, but it'd probably be more like earth or air.
4) Planet? Umm....Pluto?
Showing the Love:
1) Do you draw your character? I can't draw but I've dolled him a few times.
<b?2) Do you write about him/her? yes. I'm hard at work on the books (not). I'm on chapter five of the first one.
3) Do you use him/her in any rpgs? No. I think if I did it would ruin him.
4) What other ways have you appreciated your OC? Umm...I've been working on the story for two years.
RANDOMIZE!
1) Is your character wanted for anything? Not yet.
2) What are three weaknesses in him/her? He tends to do whatever Evan wants him to with little resistance, he doesn't speak up for himself, and he doesn't have the greatest hold on reality.
3) Strengths? He's very intelligent, he's good at figuring things out, once he sets his mind to do something, he's doing it.
4) Does your OC drink or smoke (ect.)? He drinks as he gets older. He tries smoking once but decides it's stupid.
5) What's one quirk about him/her? He thinks there is an all-knowing cheshire cat that is responsible for all the bad things that have happened to him. (makes more sense in the story). He sleeps in the fetal position without a pillow completely covered by blankets.
6) Does your character have any phobias? He's scared monsters are going to reach out and grab him from under his bed if he goes to near it in complete darkness, and not really phobia's but he hates blue eyes and white dresses. And the dark. And cemeteries.
7) What could you do to get him/her into a blind rage? Pissing him off when he's not taking his medication. On his meds I can't think of anything that would really set him off.
8) Does your OC like chickens? He likes to eat them.
The Final Question:
What would you consider your relationship with your character to be like? Von's one of my babies. I love him for all his flaws. All my characters are some extension of myself, but Von's probably the darkest one. Writing the story before I go to bed gives me strange dreams. ^_^ On the most superficial surface some of the events in his past reflect my past, but his reactions to everything are completely different, and his thinking is so unlike mine. He's the most dissimilar to myself main character I've ever written.
